My Take
Stacey Q is, to me, an underrated emblem of 1980s synth-pop. Her 1986 smash Two of Hearts hit number one in Canada and number three on the Billboard Hot 100, and one listen still drops you straight into that shimmering electro-pop era. Beyond singing she worked as a dancer, voice actor and actress, a versatility I find more impressive than her one-hit-wonder reputation suggests. In my view, leaving behind a single song that defines a moment in pop history is no small feat, it is a victory. That sweet, breathy voice has not aged a day for me.
