Susie Lee

Susie Lee's path is the kind I find quietly compelling. Born in Canton, Ohio, and trained at Carnegie Mellon, she eventually landed in Congress representing Nevada's 3rd district around southern Las Vegas. There is something gutsy about pivoting from nonprofit work with after-school programs into the unglamorous grind of legislating for a fast-growing, often overlooked suburban district. The headlines may go to the Strip, but the real work is carrying the voices of ordinary Clark County residents to Washington. I hope she stays the kind of representative who stays rooted in her district rather than in abstractions.
