Toshihiro Hasegawa

Amateur wrestling doesn't get the flashy intro music or the pay-per-view spotlight, and honestly that's kind of the point — Toshihiro Hasegawa, born in Tokyo in 1996, is out here doing the quiet, unglamorous work of competing on the mat for the love of the sport itself. At 167 cm he's not a giant, but wrestling at the amateur level is about technique, discipline, and showing up when nobody's filming a highlight reel. His bronze at the 2021 World Championships in Oslo shows he is chasing wins, not attention. There's something genuinely respectable about an athlete who exists almost entirely in the doing rather than the being-seen.
