My Take
Yaya DaCosta is one of those people who somehow gets slept on despite being genuinely talented and drop-dead striking. She came up as the runner-up on America's Next Top Model Cycle 3, and honestly, the fact that she didn't win but still built a real acting career says a lot about her hustle. Brown University grad turned TV staple — you love to see it. She anchored Chicago Med for seven seasons as April Sexton, which is no small thing; that kind of long-haul network television commitment requires serious range and reliability. I wish she'd gotten meatier big-screen opportunities, because the presence is clearly there. A quietly underrated career worth a second look.
