My Take
Yuki Baba was born in Kōriyama, Fukushima, in October 1992, went to Fukushima Prefectural Fukushima High School and then the Faculty of Law at Keio, and served in the House of Representatives from 2021 to 2025 for the Constitutional Democratic Party, representing Fukushima's second district via the Tohoku proportional block. Alongside Shin Tsuchida, he was among the first Diet members born in the Heisei era. That distinction is a double-edged thing. Being the first of a generation gets you introduced everywhere and taken seriously nowhere; youth reads as promise for about one election cycle, then as inexperience. Add the specific weight of representing Fukushima — a constituency where the questions are not abstract and the timelines run for decades — and it is a demanding place to start a career. His term ended in 2025. I would not judge a politician on four years in the chamber. He has since become mayor of Fukushima City, which keeps him working on the same problems from a different chair.
