Yumiko Takino

What got me about Yumiko Takino is that she's an idol who actually went to music school — Elisabeth University of Music, which is the real deal — and came out the other side genuinely able to play saxophone. That's not a gimmick or a photoshoot prop; that's years of breath control and fingering drills and probably a lot of late nights in a practice room. That dual presence is quietly rare. Most pop acts fake the instrument thing; she earned it. Born by the Seto Inland Sea and forged at a conservatory, she's got this calm exterior that I suspect hides a pretty serious competitive streak. Performers who build a real skill alongside the idol hustle tend to have longer shelf lives — they have somewhere to go when trends shift. I'm rooting for her.
