My Take

Alex Brightman is pure Broadway voltage. Originating Dewey Finn in the stage adaptation of School of Rock and landing a Tony nomination for it is no small feat, because that part demands singing, screaming, comic timing and relentless physical energy all at once. Being the first to shoulder a role like that and make it land tells me he is a serious talent. I also like that he writes as well as performs, a double threat that hints at a sharper mind than a typical leading man. He is exactly the kind of stage actor I would want to see live.
