Alexander Volkanovski

Alexander Volkanovski is genuinely one of the most impressive stories in combat sports — a former rugby league player from Wollongong who reinvented himself as a mixed martial artist and somehow became the greatest featherweight of his generation. Standing at 168 cm, he was constantly written off for being too small, too old a starter, too whatever, and he just kept proving people wrong. His two-title reign in the UFC, built on methodical pressure, elite wrestling, and a striking game that kept evolving, showed a fighter who understood chess while everyone else was playing checkers. The Max Holloway trilogy alone is worth studying if you care about high-level featherweight fighting. He's not flashy in the way casual fans demand, but anyone who actually watches closely knows exactly how special he is.
