My Take
Amrish Puri is, for me, proof that a great villain needs a great actor's foundation. Western audiences met him through Indiana Jones, but that's barely a footnote against 450-plus films and a serious stage pedigree in Indian theatre. What I admire is the dignity inside his menace: that booming voice and those piercing eyes never tipped into camp because the discipline of the stage held it all together. His Filmfare win only confirms what audiences already felt. He made antagonists you couldn't look away from, and decades after his death in 2005 that gravitational pull hasn't faded. A genuine titan.
