Aoi Itō

Plenty of child actors get less interesting as they grow up. Aoi Ito went the other way. Born in Osaka in 2005, she is only just past twenty, and the parts she gets handed are nothing like children's roles. Many viewers first learned her name from the 2021 film Kuhaku. Young roles in that kind of heavy drama are deceptive: crying loudly is enough to pass, so the performers who can genuinely act separate out immediately. She has never been a gossip-page name, which means you have to follow the work to notice her at all. I like that. An actor worth the trouble of tracking is a good thing to have.
