My Take
Berta Vázquez reads like a story before she even acts in one. Born in Kyiv in 1992 with Ethiopian roots and now based in Spain, she carries a genuinely transnational identity into everything she does. I find it telling that she began in dance before moving into acting and music, because that bodily training gives her screen presence a physical confidence many actors lack. Breaking through in Palm Trees in the Snow and Locked Up, and earning an Ondas Award in 2015, she clearly converted that range into real recognition. I am drawn to performers who live across borders, and Vázquez wears that crossing as a distinctive, magnetic strength.
