Blossom Rock

To me Blossom Rock is a reminder of how much craft hides in the margins. Born in 1895, she worked across vaudeville, stage, film and television, billed variously as Marie Blake and Blossom MacDonald, before audiences fixed her in memory as Grandmama on The Addams Family. Her sister Jeanette MacDonald got the marquee, yet Blossom built a durable career playing warmth and oddity in supporting roles. I have deep respect for that kind of journeyman artistry. The leads get remembered, but it's performers like her who quietly hold an ensemble together. She earned her place.
