Darude

What fascinates me about Darude is how a single track from late-1999 outlived its era and became internet folklore. "Sandstorm" is the rare instrumental that strangers can hum on cue, endlessly reborn through memes and crowd chants. I respect that kind of cultural staying power far more than a long string of forgotten hits. That a quiet kid from Eura in Finland could set the whole world dancing says something about the universal language of a great riff. To me Darude is less a one-hit wonder than proof that one perfect hook can be immortal.
