My Take
Devon Werkheiser had the trickiest assignment in child stardom: being the relatable everykid rather than the flashy one. Ned Bigby worked because Werkheiser played him with genuine warmth, and a generation of Nickelodeon viewers absorbed his school survival tips like scripture. What I respect is how he handled the after: instead of chasing scandal or vanishing, he leaned into music with If Eyes Could Speak and kept working on stage and screen. The second act of a former child star is a brutal genre, and his quiet persistence in it tells me more about his character than the sitcom ever did.
