My Take
Dominik Hašek is, for my money, a serious contender for the greatest goaltender in hockey history. The fact that he won the Hart Memorial Trophy twice is staggering, because a goalie being named the league's most valuable player almost never happens. His unorthodox, acrobatic style earned him the nickname 'The Dominator' for good reason, and his sixteen NHL seasons, mostly in Buffalo, were defined by saves that seemed physically impossible. What I find compelling beyond the stats is his reinvention as an entrepreneur after retirement. He never settled for one identity, and that restlessness mirrors the unpredictable brilliance that made him so impossible to score against.
