Florence Foster Jenkins

Florence Foster Jenkins is one of my favorite kinds of figures: ridiculed in her time as the worst opera singer alive, yet utterly unbowed. What fascinates me isn't whether she could hit the notes, she famously couldn't, but the sheer conviction it took to keep performing in elaborate costumes while the world snickered. There's something genuinely moving in that refusal to be shamed out of a thing she loved. A Pennsylvania socialite born in 1868, she turned tone-deafness into a strange immortality. I find her more inspiring than half the technically flawless singers history has politely forgotten.
