Hiroaki Ishiura

Hiroaki Ishiura might not be a name most motorsport fans outside Japan can rattle off, but hear me out — this guy genuinely fascinates me. Born in 1981 in Tokyo, he didn't start karting until he was 17, yet he went on to win a Super GT GT300 title and two Super Formula championships. That kind of late-blooming climb is legitimately uncommon, and it tells you something about how seriously he takes the craft. I find that kind of quiet, grounded competitor more interesting to follow than the loud ones. Underrated, and probably fine with being underrated.
