Ayumu Iwasa

I'll be honest, I have a soft spot for racing drivers who claw their way up the single-seater ladder, and Ayumu Iwasa hits that note for me. An Osaka kid born in 2001, climbing through the Red Bull junior pipeline into Formula 2 and Super Formula, throwing a few hundred horsepower around at speeds where one flinch costs you everything, that takes a kind of cold-blooded nerve I genuinely admire. What I like is that he's not some overnight hype story, he's the grind-it-out type, building results lap by lap in a brutally unforgiving world. I can't pretend to recite every race result, but the vibe I get is a quiet, scrappy competitor chasing a real shot at the top. Watching a guy this young bet so much on raw speed just makes me want to root for him.
