Hirona Unjo

Hirona Unjo comes from Obira, a tiny fishing town on the Sea of Japan coast in Hokkaido, and honestly that origin story alone makes me root for her before I even know anything else — because nobody accidentally stumbles into an idol career from a place like that. You make a deliberate choice. Born in August 1998 under Leo, which already tells you something about wanting to be seen, she spent seven years in HKT48, from trainee in 2016 to center on the 2020 single "3-2" to her graduation concert in 2023, and she keeps in touch with fans on Instagram and X under the handle nappi_0809. There's something refreshing about a performer from the rural north who just quietly does the work and lets people find their way to her.
