My Take
I'll be honest, Hirotoshi Masui isn't a name that comes with a highlight reel attached for most of us, and that's exactly why I find myself rooting for him. A 1984 kid out of Yaizu, that gritty Shizuoka fishing port, who put in the work at Komazawa University and stands a sturdy 181cm, he reads to me less like a flashy star and more like the quiet, dependable type who lets the grind do the talking. There's something I really respect about a guy whose story is built on showing up, putting in reps, and earning every inch on the diamond rather than chasing the spotlight. Maybe I'm projecting, but I picture a calm, salt-of-the-earth competitor, the sort of player a team is just plain glad to have around. Those are my favorite kind.
