My Take
Janne Wirman is one of those musicians I file under quietly essential. As Children of Bodom's keyboardist from 1997 to 2019, he spent over two decades giving a Finnish melodic-death-metal band a signature sound where keys trade leads with guitars as equals, which is far harder than it looks. What I admire most is that he didn't just sideman his way through a famous band; he founded Warmen as his own outlet, so the creative drive is clearly his. Coming out of Espoo, he's part of that remarkable Finnish metal pipeline. To me he's a technician and a bandleader rolled into one underrated package.
