My Take
Jasmine Guy is the rare performer who can genuinely do it all: stage, television, film, voice work, singing, dancing. Her Whitley Gilbert on A Different World is the heart of why I rate her, taking a haughty, privileged character and making her beloved enough to win four straight NAACP Image Awards from 1990 to 1993. That is not luck, that is craft, the ability to find warmth inside a role that could easily have been insufferable.
