My Take
Jerzy Skolimowski commands my admiration as a true polymath of cinema. Trained at the famed Lodz film school, he directs, acts, paints, and writes plays with equal conviction. From scripting for Wajda to over twenty films of his own across six decades, plus a Cannes screenplay prize and recent honors, he simply refuses to slow down. I suspect his refusal to be confined to one title is exactly what gives his films their restless freedom. An artist who keeps taking risks into old age is the kind of figure I find genuinely thrilling.
