My Take

What strikes me about Joanna Going is how she built a quietly durable career by being the actor directors trust with the serious, grounded roles. I first really noticed her opposite Kevin Costner in Wyatt Earp, but her later runs on Mad Men, House of Cards and Kingdom show a performer who keeps getting cast in prestige work without ever chasing the spotlight. The Emerson College training reads in her control. She's the kind of dependable craftsperson I find genuinely underrated, the sort whose name you half-remember until you see the face and immediately think, oh, her, she's always good.
