John Kasich

John Kasich interests me as a pragmatist in an era that rarely rewards pragmatism. Born and raised in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, he built a long resume: eighteen years in the House, two terms as Ohio's governor, and presidential bids in 2000 and 2016. A Republican who also worked as an investment banker, he always struck me as more interested in substance than in slogans. I respect that he held onto a grounded, blue-collar sensibility and argued from policy rather than volume. In a loud political moment, his steady, reality-based temperament stands out, and I find that worth taking seriously.
