My Take
What strikes me about King Sunny Adé is not just that he made jùjú music famous abroad, but that he carried an entire Yoruba sound tradition onto the world stage without diluting it. To me he belongs to that rare class of artists who act as translators between a local culture and a global audience. The fact that he is still cited among the most influential musicians decades on tells me his appeal was never a passing novelty. I admire musicians who can both lead a band and conduct the whole texture of sound, and the regal name he carries feels earned.
