My Take
I stumbled onto Kyoka Shiraoka through Task have Fun and honestly couldn't look away — she was scouted in Harajuku in elementary school, spent a year training, and by 2016 was already performing as one-third of what would become a genuinely fun idol trio. Born in 2002, she's fully Gen Z, and you can feel it in the energy she brings: less of that rigid, rehearsed idol perfection and more of a real presence. The group's 2020 link-up with Tsunku — the guy who built Hello! Project — was a legitimizing moment that showed these three were ready for something bigger. Kyoka specifically has this warm, expressive quality that makes her easy to root for. She has stuck with the same trio and agency since her early teens, which in an era of constant reinvention actually reads as confidence. Still early days for her at 24, but the foundation is real.
