My Take
Marlo Thomas is a living legend, and I mean that without exaggeration. As Ann Marie on That Girl she gave 1960s audiences an independent working woman to look up to, but what I respect most is the second act. She poured a lifetime into children's rights and women's advancement, earned the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and her Free to Be... You and Me told generations of kids it was okay to be themselves. That blend of artistry and activism is rare. To me she represents the best version of fame, using a hard-won platform to make the world a little kinder.
