Michihiko Suwa

Michihiko Suwa is the kind of person most TV viewers will never know by name, and honestly that's kind of the point. Born in Toyota City, Aichi, he made his way through Osaka University — which already tells you something about the way his brain works — and built a career as a television producer on the anime side of Yomiuri TV. While actors and voice talent get the fan accounts and the magazine covers, Suwa is the guy in the background wrestling budgets, shaping episode arcs, and deciding what actually makes it to air. That unglamorous, load-bearing work is easy to take for granted when you're just watching a show, but without people like him, the whole thing falls apart. He's been active on social media as suwacchi, which gives him a slightly more approachable presence than you'd expect from a career guy who otherwise stays resolutely off-screen.
