My Take

What draws me to Mike Will Made-It is that he is a producer first, an architect of sound who makes other artists shine. Coming out of Marietta, Georgia, he carried the gritty DNA of Southern trap into the pop mainstream and stacked up hit after hit. I find that quietly impressive: the people who shape how a record feels rarely get the spotlight, yet without their ear nothing lands. He raps and sings too, but to me his real gift is taste and instinct. A man who can build the room everyone else dances in is, in my view, the most valuable person on the track.
