Motohide Kinoshita

Born in 2001 in Sakai, that quietly distinct city on the southern edge of Osaka, Motohide Kinoshita is exactly the kind of player I find myself rooting for before the world catches on. He went to Koshien as Tsuruga Kehi's ace and then again as their cleanup hitter after an elbow injury moved him to the outfield, and that kind of reinvention makes him more interesting, not less. The name Motohide has a solid, grounded sound to it, the kind you'd expect on someone who does the unglamorous work without making a fuss. He never reached the first team with Hiroshima or Orix, but he swung for the fences every at-bat, and I genuinely want to see where his story goes next. That's the best kind of person to follow.
