Motoko Mizuno

Okay, I have a soft spot for politicians who clearly came up through the books, and Motoko Mizuno reads like exactly that to me. A University of Tokyo law graduate with a master's in international law from Leiden, the kind of resume that tells you she actually enjoys the dense, unglamorous stuff most people skim past. She's from Asahi in Toyama, that quiet stretch of coast pinned between sea and mountains, and I picture that giving her a certain unhurried stubbornness. At 175cm she's got a real presence too. What hooks me most is the space angle peeking out of her online life; a lawmaker who geeks out over the sky and the cosmos is my favorite kind of nerd. I just want to watch how that earnest, professorial streak plays in the shark tank of politics.
