Pooja Umashankar

Pooja Umashankar fascinates me as a rare cultural bridge between two film worlds. Born in Colombo and working across Tamil and Sinhala cinema, she navigated different languages, audiences and aesthetics in a way few performers ever manage. Her Filmfare South recognition signals real craft, not just visibility. I'm always drawn to artists who refuse to be confined to a single national industry, because that flexibility takes both range and nerve. To be embraced across borders the way she was strikes me as a quiet achievement worth celebrating, and I applaud the breadth of her path.
