My Take
Scott Stuber feels like one of the most consequential film executives of the streaming era, even if his name rarely appears on a marquee. Running Netflix Films from 2017 to 2024, he sat at the exact pressure point where Hollywood's old theatrical logic collided with the on-demand world. I find that fascinating: he wasn't making the movies himself so much as deciding which kinds of movies the next decade would even get made. Whatever you think of streaming's effect on cinema, that's real power exercised quietly. I respect dealmakers who shape culture from behind the curtain rather than in front of it.
