My Take
Susan Downey is a producer I genuinely admire, and not for the reason the headlines usually choose. A USC film school graduate who rose to the top of production at Dark Castle and Silver Pictures while still young, she clearly earned her seat through craft. Yes, she is married to Robert Downey Jr., but framing her solely as a spouse undersells a sharp creative partner who co-founded Team Downey. Producing is thankless, invisible work, and the best films run on people like her steering quietly behind the camera. Her balance of supporting a star and building her own slate commands my respect.
