My Take
Kawashima Tomotarō is one of those quietly intriguing political figures — born in Beppu, Oita, which most people know as Japan's premier hot-spring town, and somehow that origin feels fitting for a politician. There's something about growing up surrounded by geothermal slow-burn energy that makes you think the guy plays a long game. From Ozawa's office to a term in the Diet and a dojo in Nerima, the Beppu-born, quietly persistent type tends to outlast the flashier names. Like a good onsen, you don't always notice how deep the heat goes until you've been sitting in it a while.
