My Take
Ursula Andress occupies a rare place in film history: a single image, rising from the sea in Dr. No, that rewrote what screen iconography could be. I find it remarkable that one scene can outlast entire filmographies, yet hers did exactly that, essentially inventing the template for the Bond girl. The 1964 New Star award confirmed she was more than a striking silhouette. What interests me is the woman beyond the icon, someone who also wrote and modeled, suggesting a sharper, more self-directed intelligence than the glamour allowed audiences to see. I suspect she understood her own myth better than anyone.
