My Take
I consider Vince Gilligan one of the most disciplined storytellers television has ever produced. Breaking Bad worked not because of shock value but because every transformation was earned, scene by scene, over years of patient writing. That kind of restraint is vanishingly rare in an industry addicted to instant payoffs. What I respect most is his craftsman's humility: he stays behind the camera, polishes the script, and lets the work speak for itself. If I had to point a young writer to a single model of long-form narrative control, Gilligan would be my answer without hesitation.
