My Take
William Hanna is, quite literally, a founding architect of how the world laughs. Co-creating Tom and Jerry and building Hanna-Barbera alongside Joseph Barbera, he shaped the childhoods of multiple generations across the planet. What delights me most is the small, human detail that he personally voiced the vocal effects for both Tom and Jerry, putting his own breath into characters now recognized everywhere. The Daytime Emmy, the Winsor McCay Award, the Hollywood Walk of Fame star, all earned. He passed in 2001, but that cat and mouse still chase each other endlessly. Few creators leave a legacy this universal.
