Yulia Peresild

Yulia Peresild intrigues me because she shattered the line between performing space and outer space. A celebrated stage actress at the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre and a Golden Eagle winner, she then actually flew to the International Space Station to shoot a film. That's a level of commitment to craft that borders on the absurd, in the best way. Honors like Merited Artist of Russia confirm her standing, but it's the audacity that holds my attention: taking the discipline of the theatre and carrying it into zero gravity. I'm drawn to artists who treat their job title as a starting point rather than a ceiling.
