My Take

What draws me to Angus Ogilvy is the contradiction of his life. Here was an Eton-educated businessman who married into the British royal family as the husband of Princess Alexandra, yet his name also surfaces in the Lonrho sanctions affair of the 1970s. I find that tension genuinely human. Plenty of men born into privilege coast through life, but Ogilvy stumbled publicly and then spent his later years in charity work, eventually knighted in 1988. I respect figures who carry both light and shadow and still try to do some good before the end. He deserves to be remembered as more than a footnote to royalty.
