Beren Saat

Beren Saat fascinates me as a near-perfect discovery story: spotted on a talent competition while at Başkent University, then propelled into the front rank of Turkish drama. Her role as Bihter in Aşk-ı Memnu, broadcast around the world, made her a star in the Middle East and Europe, and Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne? cemented her standing. I read her as an emotionally rich performer who anchors a scene through feeling rather than spectacle. That she also sings hints at a breadth I find genuinely compelling in a screen actress.
