My Take

Glenn Loury earns my deepest respect. Becoming the first tenured African American economics professor at Harvard at just 33 was historic, but what holds my attention is the breadth of his mind, equally honored with a Guggenheim, the von Neumann Award, and an American Book Award. That last one matters: he is a thinker who writes, not just calculates. I am drawn to scholars willing to wade into society's most uncomfortable questions, and Loury has never flinched. Still teaching at Brown, he proves intellect doesn't fade. To me he is a model of courage paired with rigor.
