Iñaki Godoy

I'll be honest — when Netflix announced a live-action One Piece, my first reaction was pure dread, because these adaptations almost never work. Then Iñaki Godoy showed up as Monkey D. Luffy and completely won me over. Born in Mexico City in 2003, this kid somehow captured the impossible: Luffy's boundless, rubber-brained optimism without turning it into cringe. He's got this effortless physical energy and a grin that actually sells the character's fearlessness. His earlier turn in The Imperfects showed he could handle genre material, but One Piece is a whole different weight class — a globally beloved manga with an obsessive fanbase ready to tear you apart — and he carried it. Still only in his early twenties, Godoy feels like someone who's going to be around for a long time.
