My Take
I'll be honest — when The Big Bang Theory first aired, I was skeptical a show built around a socially clueless theoretical physicist would actually work, but Jim Parsons made Sheldon Cooper so specific and so committed that I ended up completely won over. Four Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe don't lie: the guy is genuinely one of the best comedic performers of his generation, and what makes him interesting is that he's not just a TV creature. He studied at the University of Houston, he's done serious stage work including The Normal Heart and The Boys in the Band, and Forbes named him the world's highest-paid TV actor for multiple years running. There's real range underneath all that bazinga energy, and I respect that he never coasted on the character's catchphrases — he found the humanity inside an intentionally inhuman role every single time.
