Jin Liqun

To me, Jin Liqun is the kind of figure history rarely celebrates but quietly depends on. A man born in 1949 Changshu who trained in foreign languages before becoming the founding president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has lived a career of unlikely pivots. I find his journey from linguist to financier oddly compelling, proof that fluency in words can translate into fluency in capital. Infrastructure finance is unglamorous work, all bridges and balance sheets, yet it shapes the Asia of decades hence. I respect anyone willing to carry that weight far from the spotlight, building foundations others will simply walk across.
