Mai Mizuhashi (MARiA)

Okay, so MARiA's voice is one of those that just grabs you by the collar the second it kicks in. I came up on her stuff partly through the Vocaloid scene and GARNiDELiA, and what gets me is how she somehow makes a song feel both razor-sharp and weirdly tender at the same time. The Japanese-style outfits, the long black hair, that cool intensity in her eyes, it all reads like theater, but the singing under it is the real deal, not just costume. That's the part I respect: she'll go full spectacle and still never lose the spine of the actual vocal. I'm quietly rooting for her, honestly.
