What impresses me about Kirkman is that he took zombies, the most exhausted genre imaginable, and used them to ask quietly devastating questions about how people hold together when society falls apart. The Walking Dead made him famous, but Invincible is where I see his real range, flipping superhero optimism into something genuinely unsettling.
