Roy Thinnes

Roy Thinnes belongs to a vanished era of television I have real affection for. As David Vincent in The Invaders, he carried an entire series as a lonely man no one believed, a paranoid-hero template that clearly fed later shows like The X-Files. His run from a Chicago high school through Los Angeles City College to leading roles, including a British science-fiction film and the Law and Order pilot, reflects a working actor who built a career on craft rather than celebrity. I respect performers like him who anchored a genre without ever demanding the spotlight.
