My Take
Nearly three hundred screen credits, awards for supporting work rather than leads, and a low voice that bent a scene toward him in seconds. Tamba was a professional's professional. Yet what Japan remembers is the afterlife: he discussed the spirit world with total sincerity and put it on screen. He died in 2006, aged 84, presumably still talking.
